honestly there is no shortage of social media platforms for personal and business use nowadays. every now and then, new ones pop up and take the social media game by surprise. and also every now and then, one goes away (sorry to see you go Vine).

with all the different social media platforms to choose from, how do you know which ones to use, especially to generate leads for your digital products?

let's talk about a few that you ALMOST certainly need to be using to reach your audience.

Instagram

Instagram is very well-known and well-used in the digital products space. many people use this particular social media channel because it's almost guaranteed that their audience is on Instagram.

Instagram is great for short-form content like pictures, image carousels, and Reels, which are videos up to 90 seconds in length. with Instagram Reels, you need to capture your audience very quickly before they scroll on to the next video.

typically this is done with a hook, something like:

  • "the one thing you need to be to successful is ____" or

  • "the top 5 things to _____"

  • "I wish I had known this before _____"

  • "don't sell digital products without doing this one thing first'

Pinterest

Pinterest is the ultimate combination of social media and a search engine. people go specifically to Pinterest to find out how to do something or get inspiration for something in their life, for now or for in the future.

one of the top benefits of using Pinterest is the content you create holds a longer-term value than many of the other social media platforms. with Instagram and TikTok, the posts you create typically are pushed out by the algorithm for a couple days, then it tapers out of news feeds and for you pages, unless of course the post goes viral.

with Pinterest, the longer a social post is out there, the better chance it has to continue to get found with Pinterest searches. over time, your pins continue to gain momentum and be shown in peoples' Pinterest searches.

TikTok

TikTok is the most recent social media platform to really make an impact in our daily lives. it has become a key piece of success for a lot of small businesses, especially for digital products sellers.

people go to TikTok to be entertained (not bored) so if you plan to generate leads for your digital products business on TikTok, make sure you know how to hook and captivate your audience. If not, they will continue scrolling past your videos and never see what you have to say.
