popular online platforms to sell digital products & which is right for you
if you're thinking about selling digital products, you're likely thinking about where the heck you should sell them at...
I get it... there are TONS of options to choose from!!
it feels like every day there is a new platform appearing, but the good news is you DON'T need to be everywhere. you just need to be where your audience is!!
so let's talk about your options....
popular online platforms to sell digital products & which is right for you
online marketplaces
Etsy
likely one of the very first places you think of when selling digital products is Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace for creative people to sell creative products. it's the ultimate online marketplace to find and unique items from small businesses.
top benefits of selling on Etsy
it's easy to get started, and won't require much time to get everything created and launched
it's a low-cost option to get your store created
it's very popular among people looking to buy digital products
it has built-in features that will help you be successful in your marketing and sales efforts
Amazon
ah the mega giant online marketplace... Amazon is certainly one of the top places people go to online shop - and typically with intent to make a purchase.
top benefits of selling on Amazon
people who are shopping on Amazon typically have high purchase intent; they have a specific item they are looking for, and they go there to browse options and purchase
ecommerce websites
first let me start by saying that this option means that you are creating your own website or ecommerce store through one of the many ecommerce website builders, like:
Shopify
known as the online store builder, Shopify is probably the most well-known ecommerce website builder - for many good reasons. it is built specifically for ecommerce stores to thrive with their online shop.
there are tons and tons of website builders, but Shopify is built with the features and functionality that ecommerce stores need.
Shopify offers a free 3-day trial to test out the platform, then to continue using it, you have to select a paid plan.
HighLevel
so this one is definitely a lot less known, especially in the ecommerce space, but HighLevel is actually the platform I'm using for my ecommerce website, and where in fact this blog is written!
as a person with a marketing background, I look for the best overall tools to use to support and grow my businesses with (and yes, I have multiple).
when it came to creating this site, digital products maven, I wanted to use a tool that had it all:
marketing tools where I won't need an integration and a separate monthly charge to be able to do everything I need to
ecommerce tools to be able to create and sell digital products
course tools so that I can branch into creating courses to sell on my digital products website, without needing some sort of external site or integration
automation that doesn't cost me extra, so that I can set up specific workflows that work for me in the background
I've used lots of marketing, sales, and CRM tools in my career, and to me, this one is a game-changer. It combines a lot of the best features from a bunch of different tools into one, at a reasonable price for what you're getting (which is A LOTTTTT).
If you've made it this far and you wanna check it out, you can start with a free 14 day trial.
Mailchimp
traditionally when you think of Mailchimp, you think of an email marketing platform, or at least that's what I think of. in their earlier years, they started out as an email marketing platform, but over time, they have expanded their product offerings to include so much more.
but did you know you can build a website on Mailchimp? It's true! And there's a free option (but it doesn't allow you to use your own custom URL, or branded domain as they like to call it).
link in bio tools
with this option, you skip the need to create your own website, and instead use a pre-built tool to showcase all of your products.
Stan Store
this is probably one of the more well-known link in bio tools in the digital products space, and for good reasons. Stan Store is a pretty comprehensive tool to use to list your digital products and sell them.
with Stan Store, you get a 14-day free trial, then you will be charged if you do not cancel. You can save $60 per year by signing up for the yearly subscription instead of the monthly subscription.

Pensight
This one is newly on my radar as an option for a place to sell your digital products. If you've heard of Linktree or Stan Store, Pensight is a similar concept. you can add all your products, link out to your social accounts, share a quick intro video, create landing pages, and so much more.
Pensight has a free package you can use to get started, or even check out to make sure you like it before going all in. BUT some of the features you will want to use (like email marketing and upgrading the design) only come with the pro plan. when you sign up HERE, you get 40% off your first two months of the paid plan!!

BONUS
where you can NOT list your digital products
TikTok Shop
that's right... you can not sell your digital products on TikTok Shop. It goes against their policies, and they will not approve your digital product to be listed on TikTok Shop for people to buy. don't bother wasting your time trying!!
These are online a handful of the places that you can sell your digital products. And honestly, the list keeps growing. Hopefully this breakdown of the popular online platforms to sell digital products helps you determine which is right for you!
